Discover your LinkedIn Start Date and LinkedIn User ID

Did you know that LinkedIn actually assigns a serial number to its users?  It’s sequential so you can tell what “order’ people joined LinkedIn.

I actually joined LinkedIn a long, long time ago.  Investigation shows that my LinkedIn user ID number is 125,841.

I actually met someone with an ID in the 10,000’s last month.  WOW!

LinkedIn also shows you when you joined, down to the date. In my particular case, that would be January 14, 2004.

So, you are probably asking one or two questions:

1. How do I see WHEN I joined LinkedIn?

You are one click away from finding out. Simply click on the LinkedIn Accounts and Settings text link.  It is at the top of every LinkedIn screen. It is shown below in the top red square.

Upon clicking, you will be at the LinkedIn Accounts & Settings Screen itself.  Your join date is shown in the second red square below.  This screen shows January 14, 2004.

2. “How do I find out what my LinkedIn user ID number is”?

It’s actually very easy.  The left navigation panel appears on all LinkedIn screens.  Just move your mouse over the “View My Profile” text link in the left navigation panel and then look down in the lower corner of your browser bar.  There is a long, ugly string that is actually a URL.  It contains your LinkedIn user ID number.  For example, mine says 125,841.

In a future post, I will show you a KILLER application for this information.  It is one that will help you grow your network tremendously, all on its own!
That said, please look up yourjoin date and ID number and post it below as a comment.  We would like to chart the growth of LinkedIn with REAL data points.  For example, Lori Ruff, an executive here at Integrated Alliances, joined LinkedIn on July 14, 2005 and her user ID is 3,173,651.
What are your date and number?

My membership commenced December 3, 2003.

    My subscriber # is 75,642.

I’m pretty close to Jon Nordmark — the only local name I knew when I joined.

At the time I joined, I had to REALLY WORK to get people to “accept” me — they were very suspicicious of this new thing that they didn’t understand at all. It really became not worth it. IT has amused me greatly to see how many of those same people are now inviting me……and I don’t think that they even remember that I had invited them YEARS ago.

#3,699 on May 12, 2003.  And I still only have 275 connections because I only link in with people I have worked with and can vouch for reliably.  Call me old school lol.

Right, it seems that you can still find the ID, but I have not found a way of seeing the join date.

Just discovered I’ve been on LinkedIn for 10 years now, and cannot point to a single reason why…perhaps to boost my spam intake? My user number is 80785 first logged in circa Xmess Eve 2003
